.... Healing Meeting Wed. Sept. 2, 1914. Subject; Peace yu'-' Mrs.A Fillmore: It behooves us to find that inner place in our consciousness where vve can get away from the outer -away from the turmoil and excitement of the external world and into the peace of God. We are almost obliged to stop our ears and shut our eyes to have pnace and it is absolutely -necessary that we look at it from a higher standpoint than the mortal. Mighty changes are going on in the world; a great cleansing it; taking place and these are the things we should see and not what is bringing them about. e should look for and see the white win^s of peace spreading over the nation, and know that love and good will are at v/ork in the hearts of men. We want to bring ourselves to that place where we can y be at peace; we do not want to be excited and anxious about conditions but see that bach of it all is the Prince of ieacethat is coming, V,e must get these delusions out of oui minds and nearts and then we will have the great peace whih we so desire, but we cannot rid ourselves of these anxious thoughts through anything in the external. We must find Peace within ourselves. Let us take this thought as an aid to finding this peace: "Acquaint thyself now with the Lord and be at peace," Silence hr. .tfillmore: "Acquaint thyself with him and be at peace." This is the word of prophecy given us by Isaiah. Acquaintance with God brings peace and it is the only thing that will bring peace that is permanent. We want that peace that endures, and 3- whieh is from everlasting to everlasting. That pteace is something more than can he produced in the outer relation of things through working in the external. It must first be established within and work from center to circumference and is based upon the harmony and right relation of mind and body, or the within and the without. People are saying, "peace, peace, when there is no peace." In other words the turmoil and discord in the mind are unable to produce peace in the outer, so the wise prophets who are basing their prophecies upon the Bible tell us that we are now at the place in the history of the world where the great universal wafc is to be had and that when the war is over we will have the Millenium, which will last a thousand years. This, they say, will be followed by the reign of Christ. I understand that they base this prophecy upon the 4- Scripture and 1 ana not giving it as anything that I have figured out myself , but 1 can see how these very things might come to pass Ideas work in the minds of the race just as they do in the individual. Personal man has had his day and we find all over the world men who believe in the force of arms; the power of ^personal dominion to gain its ends, and that class of minds is having its inning in the universe today. There aare two very distinct and separate currents of thought running parrallel. The aristocrat and the greater souls,(artists and musicians,) the philanthropists and the reformers. These two great classes are now in the outer world and the great souls seem to be in the minority. The man who believes in the force of arms is hav- ing his inning but we all know that that man must pass away. He is a man of effect and does not come from the foundation 5 of things. He is not built up by the inner power - the mind. The next step after the man of arms destroys himself, and we know that he will, will be for the man of intellect to have dominion. After the war shall come great gatherings of intellect ual men who will perceive the possibility df having peac$,and the nature of their gatherings will be to establish peace. They will realize that men can have more pleasure through peace, and they will very likely establish peace because they will stop this turmoil that is raging among the people. However it will only be a temporary condition and not the real thing, lor it will not be based on an understanding od the true peace. It will be a step in the direction of the great unselfish peace which the Christ Mind is to usher in. One thousand years is the period of peace in which all the 6- races of the earth will develop and grow healthy, hut class distinction shall he kept up. There will he capital on one side and labor on the other, producing another great turmoil, and then the foundation of the will he broken up. This thousand years of changing doesn't make much difference to us at present for we can get the horoscope of the world from the condition which is working out in ourselves. This intellectual peace is not the permanent and real thing hut a selfish condition brought about by the personal man. We must look forward to a peace based upon God; upon Divine Mind; the understanding of ohe -Principle. God must be all in all and Christ, the Ideal ox uod, must be in the hearts of the -universe. To him "every knee shall bow." This does not mean that we mu3t get down on our knees and glorify him in any way for he has glory enough and he knows who he is and what he is and that is all that man can 7 know. We must all arrive at the same place in God that Christ has, and develop the inner glory which comes with a knowledge of our oneness with him. This realization ofoneness with God must he part of our very life and selfish personality must he done away with. luring the Millenium there will he a constant evolution of people here and there, and they will finally establish in the world a higher consciousness of peace. When the great foundations of the human forces are broken up the peopje that have the understanding of the Peace of the Lord Jesus Christ will he called to the front and they will establish the Christ Mind the world round, and the Kingdom of God will come into the world. This cannot come about so long as there is competition, 8 strife, and desire for supremacy, for we are all of one 11001 and every distinction must be finally v. iped out before we can come into our true relation . This mighty step means doing away v»it;.the prejudices and selfishness in every one of us; doing away with every relation that separates us from our fellows. You can see how necessary it is that we have peace - then talk anu apply it for the salvation of the race. Begin right where you are and give a peace thought. Jesus Christ established a state of consciousness based upon peace, he worked out these ideas and put them into the race; he worked them all out in detail just as you would work out your ideas in building a house. He worked out all the details of life and love and made it possiole for all who take up the love consciousness to be brought together. All who take up the Life consciousness can enter into 9- the Living Word and feel the baptism of Life. Every function of your body can be vitalized and filled with this life and it v.ill respond and so it is with peace. Your body organs cannot work so long as there is turmoil in your mind and body. You can’t build a perfect spiritual body with war thoughts. You might feaxs. get all the thoughts of life, love, peace, etc. to working harmoniously in your consciousness when along comes a warfing thought and that thought will rush through the body and break up the good material which you have gotten together there, ^nis was the reason that David couldn’t build the great temple, ihere were wars about him on every side and he had not established peace within himself, so it was left to Solomon (who had great wisdom) to build the temple. Get wisdom and you will become a man of peace. To establish this in permanency you must have lo the peace of the Spirit; you must come into that unity with the Christ kind which will establish peace in your mind, body and affairs, Jesus Christ said to his disciples, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth give I -unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." There is no fear in this peace consciousness; there is no anxiety or worry and when you have the peace of Jesus Christ it seems to ooze out through every pore of your body, and when you sit in the presence of those in discord or inharmony they will feel it. You can go into a house and establish peace there, if you have pdace in your own heart. Jesus instructed his disciples to go forth and enter into the housees of the people, saying first "Peace be to this house." 11 It is a fact that you can establish peace through your spoken word. As you held to and think about the Peace of Jesus Christ you become an agent of Peace and your body will hecome harmonious every function will work in harmony and there will be no oppositio and fighting bet. een the different functions of your body. It is for our individual good and for the good of the whole race that we become acquainted with thr Peace of Jdsus Christ. Look into the Scripture and see the promises of peace made there. Away back in the old Scripture we read about peace. nThou wilt keep &im in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." Isa. £6: 3. Again in Isa. 3£: 17 "And the work of righteousness shall bepeace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance tot ever." Isa: 48:18 0 that trou hadst hearkened to my commadnmentsJ 12 then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea.” Jesus Christ daid, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you. let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." This meeting is for the expression of each individual and I will now leave it with you. A most cordial invitation is extended to all to express themselves upon this subject or upon any subject pertaining to the overcoming power of man. If you have had a good demonstration we will be very glad to hear about it. If you have had a dream or a vision we will be glad to he ar about that - this is a wide open church. 1 do not suppose that in the whole city you will find a church where such a generous invitation as that would be given out. I don't know of a single 13 church where you could get the opportunity to tell about' having been healed by the Holy Spirit, unless it would be the Christian Science Church. Mrs. I would like to say that I have obtained great blessing through this Society, After becoming a student I was so enthused with the idea of healing that it seemed to me that all the world was coming to me for healing. I opened my home for Truth students and we had meetings every Sunday. Speakers from all over the world being in the city for a short time would come and attend our meetings and all remarked about what a wonderful work we were doing. Finally I came upon a great stumbling block in my own family. A condition came up which I could not demonstrate over. I went from Chiacgo to St. Louis. I seemed to be absolutely alone for 1 shrank from appealing to my friends . 1 had often heard 14 of Unity so I appealed to you for help and it came and I shall never forget it. I will never forget the experience nor can I EVER be thankful enought for the words and comfort that come to me from you.It brought me out of the darkened condition into the beauty of Truth. I was so in the dark and the way opened out and I came forth weak and trembling and the others have come forth also. It will be a great privilege to me to w&rk for Unity Center all my life and 1 pray that God's blessings may be poured out upon you. Speaker: We are very glad indeed to know of the help that spiritual you have received through our ministry. Mr. I am going to try and tell about a vivion I had Sat urday morning. I just woke up(sd#& I had gone to sleep the night before trying to get into the Silence) and it seemed to 15 me that I had a glimpse of heaven - it seemed to be heaven to me because always before I had misunderstood God and heacen. I &ad thought of God as a man and a personally . This glimpse of heaven seemed to come as a flash of pure intelligence+-I cannot describe it in any other way- it just seemed to me that Truth was revealed to me all at once. The first thought that cema to my mind was:"Do everything to the honor and glory of God," and I believed that that vision has changed my whole life. I cznnot explain it as 1 would like but it seemed tii be a flash of real understanding and intelligence. I also want to say that in this Unity Auditoritum Ihave found more peace than anywhere in the world. I have looked for peace but I could not get it until I came here and now the sense of peace I get when I come into this Auditorium seems wonderful. Mrs We are glad to hear testimony of this kind and we 16- will say that it is due to our constant endeavor to stand where Jesus Christ stood and upon the foundation he stood upon and where we are all one in the Divine Consciousness of the Fatherhood of God and the Brotherhood, of man. Speaker: We are all glad to hear these testimonies of the power of the Spirit in the individual to reveal Truth in dreams and visions. Revelations cannot come through any external force hut through the Spirit of Truth in the individual. All the manifestations of Truth we have in hooks and through teachers set are good hut do not go far enough for the individual development. not This vision mist he given to you and you must he disohedient^to it the heavenly vision. God has revealed himself to man as 17 never before. He promised that young men should dream dreams and old men see visions atHixKExkHEWxthxitxtiie yauag Hsoixauss k Those young in development get it in dreams and the wise ones get it in visions. I am still a dreamer. I was standing down on the corner Sunday evening waiting for a car when a man stepped up and spoke to me. I did not recognize him at first but he reminded me that he had been one of the bricklayers on our present Unity building. I them remembered him and he told me that he was becoming very much interested in the iruth. said he had taken some of our literature home with him wile working on the building and that both he and his wife had become interested and that she attended our meetings quite often. I was surprised to see how the Spirit was working in him. He said that a few minutes an acquaintance had stopped him to 18 talk about the v/ar but he said, "i think it is better if we do not talk about those things. ’* e would help the v/orld more if we would send out thoughts of peave and . Supposing all those crowned heads in Europe had begun after the great war of 1870 to talk about peace instead of war - wouldn't they have established a consciousness of peace there? As it was they talked war and are now reaping the result bf war. " I was surprised to see the illumination that ipan had from reading our literature, but he realised how important it was that we talk peace and tell people about peace and of the advantages of being p. aceful. 'Alien we come to think about the wonderful opportunities we have with our understanding we ought to get busy and every one who has the least inkling of the Truth ought to spread it. Everybody should be told of the power of God in the wor3d 19- as a great working mind. Write it to the newspapers; preach it on the street corners, -^et every body know the power of the thought to establish peace. Mr. ---A good illustration of the way in which the word and declaration come into manifestation came to me while we were talking about peace and war. Three days after the present Kaiser of Germany was inaugurated he went out to review the arms of Germany and after surveying them from one end to the other he said, "These are made for me to fight with," and his word is coming rather forcibly into manifestation and I dohbt if he had the least inkling of what he was doing. In coming into at least a degree of peace it is to my mind a blessing to enjoy. Some things have come to me in moments of Silence, and, although I might have heard them amny times before, they 20 always eome as a revelation when they come in the Silence. One of the first things which helped me to a realization of peace ‘ was that this is really eternity and that I must enter into the enjoyment of eternity now. I must think and act and live the as though I was in eternity to which I used to look. Another revelation which came to me and brought me another degree of peace was that in regard to service and I found that the greatest service 1 could render mankind was to give God manifestation in myself and through myself. Itcame to me while walking down the street. I had asked, "What can I best do to awaken those whom I come in contact with?" and the answer came to me showing me me that the most I could do was to give God expression in myself. Another realization wrhich came to me was in this statement: "I am the Word of God made flesh." The Word 21 of God is perfect and if I am the Word ofGod made flesh I am perfect in manifestation, and if I am the Word of God made flesh, so also are all men.
